LYNC At the Leadership Gathering – Wednesday Update

Day two of the Leadership Gathering started early for LYNC volunteers. Before the sun rose in Calgary, they were ready to share more scarves and brochures about LYNC.

As LYNC leaders were setting the goals of being present at the Leadership Gathering, the first objective was to make sure these church leaders know LYNC and its member organizations exist and are still part of the conversation about justice and inclusion in the church.

That goal has been met with smiles and thank you’s as volunteers gave our warm scarves for chilly Calgary. Participants are a mix of people who know LYNC, and warmly greet us, and new people that are learning about LYNC for the first time.

Scarves, brochures, question cards, and pins are all part of the LYNC welcome ministry in Calgary.

For today’s second interaction with participants as they entered the Knox United Church, volunteers first made sure they had a scarf, then offered them a brochure about LYNC, its member organizations, its history, and its values.

As The United Methodist Church moves toward General Conference in Minneapolis in 2028, these emerging leaders will know that LYNC is a source of connection for progressive values focused on the key value of Just Love.
