LYNC Volunteers were again ready to greet Leadership Gathering participants at Knox United Church in Calgary on Thursday!
While many people scoot in the doors quickly to get out of the cold, some linger to say hello and catch up. Some are friends from past LYNC events or general conference sessions and there are many hugs and selfies taken.
The gift given to participants today as they entered were question cards, titled “Questions for the Church Yet to Be”. Printed in four languages, they help remind the church of our linguistic diversity.
The gift given to participants today as they entered were question cards, titled “Questions for the Church Yet to Be”. Printed in four languages, they help remind the church of our linguistic diversity.
The questions center on the church's proposed new vision statement: Love Boldly, Serve Joyfully, Lead Courageously. They ask questions about sharing power, confronting colonialism and Christian nationalism, and inviting people to fully belong to the church. You can read the full questions set on a new Resource Page of the LYNC website.
It also has resources from LYNC partners for use in your justice ministry.
Participants spent most of the day in covenant groups today. Hopefully the questions LYNC provided will add to their discernment of the next phase of The United Methodist Church.
